Whispers Of the Wind

Sat on the rock
Down by the river side
Listening to frogs croak
They saw me do nothing
Deep within I was attentive
Listening to whispers of the wind

First came the message
Hard for the ear to manage
To some it's savage
For one who is average
Or maybe underage
The wind whispered to my ear

Heartbroken and burning
Full of urge for vengeance
To enemies, ensure clearance
It was lost in wilderness
That which I treasured most
That trust I had in most
The wind whispered to my soul

Then came a whisper
That told the bitter truth
The true “lie” people said
True love as in the ancient
No more just pretence
The wind whispered once more

I looked up across the river
A mother and child stood still
Holding hands not to fall
From a distance they were exhausted
Maybe heavens were heavy on their heads
Or the ground breaking their feet
That's not a doing of love
The whisper came again

My eyes closed for a moment
I saw people on lent
At home where they rent
Hunger and anger reigns
Neighbors that suffer in rains
On lent but don't lend
The height of rot in humanity
Then the whisper disappeared
