When Rains Reigned

WHEN RAINS REIGNED

Through my window
I watch as people run
Mothers for their children
Traders for their merchandize
But wait, someone is smiling
That one; Farmer

Then came the first drop
The second and third
And before I could count more
A million were falling at a time
Once again they are here
Those which I loved most

I stared in awe
At the deserted playing fields
Maybe they are new to this
Maybe they have strict guardians
Or maybe they are tired
The children of today

Memories trickled in
One after another
Of my days as a kid
I wish I lived there once more
In the days when Africa had African kids
Us; those who played in the rain

Maybe funny, maybe not
How they see rains today
To some a disaster; punishment by nature
To some a cover; cry without being noticed
To some a snitch; real faces to reveal
Children of Africa
Lost taste of rain

After it came the rainbow
Colors put together
How beautiful it is
When of all color become one
“Look! The devil is cooking”
I yelled, he didn't get it
Because it's not our days
When we saw vapor from earth
After an hour of the rain's reign.
