When Love Was Love
I stood in the cold waiting,
Drops of rain one after the other dripping,
Without sweater, I was shivering,
Coldness pierced through my skin, but still I kept hoping,
For I knew patience did pay
Time kept on moving,
Seconds, minutes, hours going,
A quarter to seven still hoping,
Rains paved way to darkness which started falling,
But I kept the faith, maybe she's on the way coming
For I knew patience did pay.
My mind kept visualizing,
Don't know if it's daydreaming cause I was standing,
From afar I could see her running,
That broad smile of hers broadly growing,
She was the love of my heart, the one I couldn't imagine losing,
I had waited for her without questioning,
For I knew patience did pay.
As the visions were slowly fading,
And my mind clearly functioning,
I heard footsteps approaching,
Felt a rough touch on my left shoulder before I uttered a word,
Then my hand grabbed abruptly,
"Young man, so you're the one who wants to elope with my daughter?"
I fainted.
Finally, my patience did pay.
