Under My Skin

Under my skin

They said,
Don't bleach to look white,
And that Black don't crack
It's not right for black to look white
But you're African with a white name

Under this skin we're same,
No we aren't.
Under mine it's blue,
Blue for the love of clear skies
Blue for the love of oceans' endlessness
Blue because I've been through dark alleys
And finally got to see light.

Under my skin is blue
Blue because the sky is blue
And that the sky is the limit
Under my skin is blue
Blue because I know my limits
Blue because most of the times I am my limit.
