Treasure Of My Soul

Five years or so,
The paths of our lives met,
In the most unexpected turn of events,
Something meant for eternity was born.
You were timid, soft spoken, silent,
I was confused, naive, soft spoken.
You ditched your intended mission,
And we took on a course everyone else wonders about.

Like a baby you took me into your arms,
Cuddled me like a teddy,
Your eyes on me always steady,
You labelled me a small sister,
And I no longer needed a seater.
Like a rose you held me close,
Watched over me,
My guardian angel,
Letting me follow my heart's desires,
But careful enough so I don't slip into dangerous dens.

You held my hand and showed me the way,
Cheered me on when the only option I had was giving up,
Always proud of me,
Always labelled me a strong woman,
Told me I was the best sister the world ever saw.
You fought my battles for me; at times not letting me know of them,
Took a couple of bullets for me,
Shared in my moments of sorrow and grief,
Your presence was my relief.
You cried with me when I needed,
Held me together when I was breaking down.
You made me whole.

And now everyday I look at you and smile.
How you've grown to be handsome,
How fine women fight over your attention,
Throwing themselves onto you,
Pulling each other's weaves and mascara
Just to get a piece of you.
Because I know at the end of the day,
You'll pass by my place and whisper,
'Hey sister, tell these women you're my number one',
And I'll smile, laugh and sleep.
In you, I've found a friend, a confidant, a brother and a family.
The treasure of my soul.

Let's tell the stories our way. Let them have it their way.
