The Weight In Her Heart
The weight in her heart equaled the wait in her heart
For she had longed for so long
To meet the one who would right all the wrongs
She always had patience
And waited with hope, but never with expectation
The weight in her heart made her slouch
So that when she walked, you could notice a slight limp
She always blamed it on the motorcycle accident
But the truth is that all the love she carried was weighing her down
It was crushing her bones
And as the days faded away, so did her soul
This weight in her heart was growing
It was gaining roots like a tumor
It was growing as if it was home
All the secrets, all the memories, all the pain she carried around
They began to haunt her imagination
They began to show in her nightmares
And when she spoke, you could almost make out the misery floating around her words
This weight in her heart was shutting her down
She needed to let go
But no one ever told her how
They called her ‘The Lady in Smiles’
For her sadness was her own
And her tears fell only when she was alone
The weight in her heart was making her drown
As she held all her friends up and supported them
She sank deeper into her sorrows
She could not remember the last time she felt free
She could not remember the last time she felt her heart beat.
The weight in her heart covered her in loneliness
Very few got to see her happy
The rest only got to see her smile
Very few could read the reflection in her eyes
Very few knew to hold her and let her cry.
For she had longed for so long
To meet the one who would right all the wrongs
She always had patience
And waited with hope, but never with expectation
The weight in her heart made her slouch
So that when she walked, you could notice a slight limp
She always blamed it on the motorcycle accident
