Starve Sensation

Steadily I walk
In my high heeled stillettos
In my expensive looking shoes
I cat walk into the supermarket
Straight to my unga shelf
Am startled
Almost falling to the ground
The prices have doubled
Leaving me troubled
Shall I starve?
A lady from the west can survive not on mere rice
Or spaghetti nor chapati
I pick a packet
My pocket in tears.

I need tea
Maybe it will set my mind free
I head to the sugar section
Jeez!!
Do these people think I robbed a bank?
Triple are the prices
Extended is my crisis
A girl from the west cannot survive
Without some sugar for her drink
Daily she must just make
Lest she wants not to wake.

I hold my breath
I give up sugar idea
As long as I have milk
But wait
My eyes must be playing me
Please come see
The prices are disheartening
That's how I die
Into my house I drag
My body heavier than my feet
Thoughts in my brain weighing me down
Maybe a girl from the west is better of in the farm
Milking cows
Planting maize
Or in her husband's compound
At this rate
How will I survive?
