Specks That Hurt(ma)

Ma,I haven’t written you a piece in a while,
I guess that’s why lately I do not find peace in my smile.
Ma, you should see the distance my lips reach when I smile,
They stretch for miles.

I’m out here alone among these Lions, now,
Still just a mere cat.
Pray for me.

Ma I’m lonely. Ma I’m sorry.
Out here in this jungle if you can’t roar mama
That’s reason enough to worry.
And when they do mama,
It’s you I remember.

Pray for me ma, pray for me.

Daily I try to do it, but I cannot do it alone mama.

Ma, I’m losing myself.
I was a happy kid that made you happy mama.
Played hide and seek until I can no longer find myself.
Sometimes I need you here mama.
Sometimes I need the food and the hot drinks you made for me ma.
Dear ma.

I miss my ever clean clothes dear ma.
I miss chapatis, Ugalis, meats and kachumbari ma.
I haven’t written you a piece in a long time ma.
We have not laughed together in a long time. Ma.
It’s been a long time ma.
Pray for me ma, pray for me.
