#a mother's sacrifice

She

She's a tale of countryside love,

Modest,

Her story is not of skyscrapers or suburb exorbitancy,

Not of extravagant pharaonic concubinal lifes with silver spoons and golden chalices,

She's never dreamt of Canopus Egypt,

Her diary is torn,

Her feet are rough,

Her hands,

They are scarred,

She is not the angel you drew in kindergarten but I swear,

She is an angel who plucked feathers from her wings to dress my nakedness,

One who ruptured her palms and cracked her feet to write my story,

With her sweat and blood she blossomed my infant heart into a garden,

A garden as sheen as her heart,

She's the flowers in the them,

Beautiful,

Like a love song,

She is a love song that stretches beyond and between the shallow wording of your ears,

To the depth the words of my mouth speak about her place in the much I mean,

About her place in my life,

Words do not carry her tall enough to describe the weight of the sparkle a thought of her ignites in me but,

I am her,

And don't get it twisted because she is not me,

She makes me,

She is MY MOTHER and I know that all that time she held my life inside her palm was no guarantee,

I wouldn't take that for granted so,

Any time a chill runs through my spine in a thought of how much she makes up in me,

I want it to hold my breath long enough because if she was me for nine months,

Then I want to carry her in my heart until it feels like we are made of each other,

Until it feels like I am her and she definition of us,

I want to love her as if I picked her from a bouquet of roses,

Until family portraits and Christmas eve dinners make no more sense,

Until she feels like she doesn't have to wait for some holiday to feel like what she is,

I want to love her until this part of me that is made up of her speaks louder than blood ties and mother child affection,

And if anything has to speak louder than me,

Let it be what I make her feel.
