Safe Haven

The chirping birds and cool
atmosphere is so serene,
This helps calm my racing heart
Taking a look at my legs,
I cringe at the horrific sight,
I have scratches and blood oozing out,
I know I need to treat them,
But with the beast following,
I need to be far away,
There's no time.


Recalling the previous events,
I just can't imagine if any of this is real,
I've been hoping to wake up,
But now I know it's reality,
Now I am a prey,
The beast is my predator,
And it hunts me down,
Baiting and craving for my blood.


Mama always told me to fight,
She said it was the right thing,
Then why is the beast after me?
All I did was fight back,
I can feel him gaining on me,
The sound of cars gives me hope,
Just a little more and I'll be there,
I can already taste freedom.


Just as I stepped out of the dense forest,
All I saw were bright lights,
And I think I heard people screaming,
I was hit by something hard,
Knocking all the air out of me,
Then nothing,
Only blackness,
and a silent world,
It's so peaceful,
So I welcome it.
