S06 E01: Beyond Us
Rapando Jnr:
Beyond this starved smile
Is a nourished hope.
Beyond this failing arms
Is an embodiment of will.
Beyond this barrenness
Is lush thoughts and wishes.
Beyond us,
Is a better us.
Stumah:
Noons of hunger
Moons that bring anger
Stranded in an ocean of pain
Or in a desert trying to gain
Stand tall, then stumble and fall
The battle ain't ours
It's for one beyond us
Ruvella:
After the Storm Come Forth Rain
Orphaned at a young age
The struggle in the dry land
Afraid that the beast might come hurt them
But still she looks into her sister's eyes
With the last pang of hope left
She will never leave her side
Going strong
Through these harsh paths
They will see the light again
Allan Kiptoo:
Feeble is the mind that claims perception,
Of pain customized.
Our eyes are dry like the vast Sahara we reside,
We can't afford a drop of tear.
Sand battering our skins to a milky white,
Dry as the carcasses of our flock.
Weak and helpless we are at the face of these elements,
Beyond us they are, HELP!
Cynthy:
Accustomed to the rather pesky lifestyle,
Nothing much to live for,
What's there to look forward to,
When the spirit is dead?
How long before the body follows?
Only if I could reach out,
But even I know the limits,
We can only imagine and wish
Expired Giant:
Deep within me is hope,
Though hunger in me is a reality
Food and water just a dream
War and anger just a norm
I wish I would race off
For I'm already racked up
In this mess I call home
The place they say it's best for us
Mwandah:
I see light in your tears
I see hope in your sadness
Mama don't cry
I may be tiny now with no capability
Tomorrow I'll be grown it's a possibility
Take heart mama
I will get us out of this dump
