My Brother's Wife

I have a brother, same blood, same lineage,
He has a wife, I have mine,
His Sue, mine Jane, and they are friends.
I have daughters, he has sons,
A pretty good family, right?

Sue, my brother's wife,
When she came and stayed four seasons without yield,
My mother was on her neck,
Demanding offspring, yet it was my brother's fault,
I knew it, he knows it too, no one else knows,
It was an accident in our teenage hood,
He knew his marriage was at risk, and came for brotherly help,
He needed me to sire.

Now, Sue, my brother's wife,
She didn't know the plan, but she had hers too,
She is as fertile as the banks of the Nile,
Yet it seems she already knew my brother's seeds had no hope of seeing the sun,
So she started greeting me longer during my farm visits,
She'd come to borrow a spade when Jane wasn't around,
And she'd laugh so hard at every joke I dropped that I could see more than her ribs move,
Sometimes she'd come with food and watch me eat,
Her eyes spying on every swallow, her gaze searching my eyes.
She would walk with grace as she bid bye so I would look at her disappearing figure,
Swaying in the evening breeze, literally beckoning me to her.

Wait, she is my sister,
Not by law, but in law,
But hey!
She has her ways of trapping a man,
At first I thought my brother fell into a trap of her beauty,
But hey, she had more to offer,
She knew what to do to tie his legs and make him abandon his quests,
She needed a child as much as my brother,
And though they kept it secret, they had one quest,
The child would come from the family.

So I fell for it, not only for her, but for my brother too,
And sons came in a row,
My mother was happy,
Sue glowed, my brother gloated with pride.
Each looked like me, and I knew one day questions would be raised,
But hey, I am a copy of my father's,
And questions would be answered by his picture.

Now Sue is pregnant, again,
I know it is not mine, unless it stalled for a couple years,
But it isn't mine,
I was happy at first, that my brother was healed perhaps,
And his seeds would see the sun as mine do,
But he came the other day, patted me on my back and said,
'Thank you brother, but three sons is enough trouble already',
Now my mouth is shut for the sake of my brother's joy and pride,
But I need a talk with Sue.

I like the fact that you brought out the idea of the husband also having the 'yielding' problem yet the society always blames the woman. And whoa! what we do for brotherhood/family. Great piece...I love it Raps...keep writing :-)
