Little Red Butterfly

Little red butterfly flap away,
In the gaze of the rising sun find your way.
Tomorrow, come back again
To give me hope where trust was slain.

Little red butterfly, flap away,
Let me give you my curse to cast away
In the beautiful lands far far away.
Drop them where they'll melt away
And to my blessings give way.

Little red butterfly, my smile is gone,
Daily, my heart is awash
In tears that freely flow.

Little red butterfly, give me one more moment,
Give me your consent
Upon your bright red pattern to gaze,
To see my stolen joy in your floating presence.

Unfair treatment has become my norm,
My existence is trapped in this hole,
Laughs only come to me as echoes through these walls:
A product of joy that family brought.

Little red butterfly,
From me, a chuckle don't deny.
I believe, even my frown deserves a smile,
Listen, little red butterfly.

Ignite my taste buds that now lay numb,
Tickle my lips that remain shut,
Rub my voice cords that render me mum.

Beneath my dry lids my eyes hide,
Now they dread the teary pain of light,
I have forgotten the definition of bright
As darkness in me has grown to its prime
And my sweetness has turned saline.

Little red butterfly,
Before the rains come to my lands now dry
Quench this thirst that wets this heart of mine,
Before the heavens cry,
Bring me nectar that was once mine.
