Letter To My Unborn Daughter
Dear daughter,
I probably don't know when I'll see you,
But lately I've been thinking about you.
What will I tell you the moment I'm crowned with your presence?
The moment your clenched fists will rub against my cheeks,
And your breathe whispers love into my ears,
Your skin echoing the vibrance of your heart.
What will I let you see the moment you open your small eyes?
Eyes like pyramidal gems,
Round and bright,
Like light.
I've been confused about how I'll let you know you're human,
That beneath you lies a self that is mortal,
A soul that gets lost at times,
A conscience that fades away like the dusk.
That within you lies an embodiment of err,
An incarnate of humanity.
Beneath you is a woman.
Below your skin lies a tonne of emotions,
Of sadness, happiness, drift and love.
Emotions that will take toll on you on separate days,
Some days you'll laugh so hard,
Other days you'll feel less of a human being,
You'll cry yourself to sleep,
Drift away into unexplainable dreams,
You will beg your soul to leave,
But it will stay,
Stay put and let you be the woman you were born to be.
And most importantly,
Your heart is a yearner,
Yearning for sincerity and truth,
For the untamed wild in you,
It recoils when blood sputters.
It hides its feelings deep down,
Drowns its thoughts in a faraway drainage.
And it reaches for the stars,
For you, my child, are a woman.
Your loving mother.
I probably don't know when I'll see you,
