Jenny, My Wife

Jenny my wife of day and night,
The one I said yes to,
Accepted in my house and life alike.

The one I deemed the apple of my eyes,
The one I deemed perfect enough,
The same woman who shone light where darkness prevailed.

Jenny, my wife, turned,
She welcomed other men
With the same smile I thought was mine,
She defiled our matrimony with slurred laughs,
Impromptu seductions that earned her a name in the market place.

Jenny my wife
Was now a loose canon,
She shot herself from barrels of the mighty,
Silenced the neighbouring with her wails,
Welcomed my business trips with a smile and hasted byes
And showed no concern when a day was added.

So a decision was made
By me and my fathers before me by my side.
That one night,
A night when light would shine
Where her embraces lurked,
The night when hidden secrets would lay bare in the moonlight,
That night was the night....
R
A poet by passion.
