I Look Back
I look back with a frown of a smile, its been miles,
I sit in the shade with the wise, its worth my time,
Its been two decades of a life, dozen decades of things I've tried,
Successes, don't cross out the fails, a part of me; my life.
You see when I was younger, I always had this kind of laughter,
A unique feature only I had, the kind of loud laugh I had,
I had all toys I would want, I always felt my life was two awesome halves.
You see, where me my mother had, is somewhere tucked in the Western part,
where it is a pride a son to have, and a luck a daughter to love.
Days when smoke was as welcome, as the shadows that at dusk would go long,
Days when running in the waters of the pond, was the perfect excitation,
Not that schooled excitation you know, but that ripple that of the soul,
There are things I used to know not of, things that were centuries old,
Things like flipping pages of education, things like laying fingers on the 'board,
As years went up, so did my conscience build up,
Friends I met up, and foes I piled up,
I was forced to stand right up, by those who knew not how I grew up,
I was fooled and laughed at, by those who knew not I was brought up,
I was adored and looked up at, by those who valued how I was shown the path.
I had my rests and holidays too, I made myself happy and ate to my full,
Its my sorrounding that made me a fool, I stayed on their right to look cool,
But with my emptiness they had their full, when I a question at them I threw,
They gave me a look with eyes of blue, Its a lesson I paid in full.
And behind me now when I throw a look, it maybe a frown but my smile is full.
