Hard Way
When the distance between us widens,
When the clock starts ticking backwards,
When our conversations start diminishing,
When words fail me,
When I finally lie on that bed,
Derailed of speech and life,
Don't ever cry.
When my eyes turn white,
Staring but don't recognize you,
When my ears are glued,
No longer hearing your soft voice,
When I am finally laid down to rest,
Pronouncing my grave my home,
Don't ever cry.
Play that sweet song I used to listen to,
Dance like I am in your midst,
Crack those jokes like we used to,
Rejoice, make merry like all is well,
For in that my soul shall rest in peace.
Don't shed a single tear,
For you'll provoke the spirits of our ancestors,
It will make them angry.
But hey, be happy for I fought a good fight,
I finished the race,
And I shall be waiting to be crowned with eternal life.
We'll miss each other,
My seat at the high table will be physically empty,
But spiritually occupied,
When my time comes,
Engrave my name in your hearts,
And prepare yourselves for the same race,
I will watch over you,
I will be waiting for you at the finishing point.
For one thing I'm sure of,
All of you shall follow me one day,
And we shall reunite once again.
