Bitter Sweet No Sweat
Am in trouble
Am getting over 50 calls daily
They are not calls from my friends no
They are calls from…here goes again,
I can’t pick this pain
Its from the downtown boutique
Just loaned it, so chic
I’ll find a way to pay
I don’t know how but I will.
I am a campus girl
When I joined as a freshman
My notion of life was different
An engineer need not look cute, for what?
I just deal with wires and my books,
That was before I was taught dressing up was hot.
So I was not poor
But my budget could not accommodate the overspending and shopping
I knew no way to make money that was dignified
So I resorted to loans
Borrow now pay later.
My mission deviated from school to coll
From attention to creation
My roommates had it all
From expensive 6 inch stillettos and platforms
Pricey bata sandals and colourful wedges
Dresses for every occasion
Sundresses to maxis
Party dresses and gowns
And of course, the little black dress they say you should never miss in your closet
Daddy’s money was not sufficient for all this
So borrowing became my game
I could call it my middle name
Money without your sweat is sweet
And you spend it anyhow
I got all the dresses I wanted
Shoes as well so to say
I borrowed to repay
Soon I was buried in debt
By the time I saw this
It was too late.
