Beauty

I thought beauty was all about being perfect,
All dolled up,
No blemish at all,
I wanted to be beautiful,
Comparison made me miserable,
All I saw in me was imperfections,
Far from the beautiful I wanted.

So I went out in such of beauty,
Along the way,
I had a lot to think about
I found all kinds of beautiful,
So what kind of beautiful did I want?

I thought being pretty,
And beautiful just needed a little effort,
Sexy clothes,.
Perfect makeup,
That was my beauty definition.

I did all this,
But I still felt empty from within,
That's when I found out beauty is more than all this,
Beauty is being brave,
Beauty is accepting you for who you are,
Beauty is embracing all your imperfections,
Beauty is crowning you,
Beauty is from within.

Nobody told me what beauty is,
All the compliments you get won't cover it all,
I promise you'll find it within you,
Only then will you be the perfect version of YOU.
