Are You There Father?

You sent me down
With no sense of direction
Said your word would show me the way
Said I’d talk to you when I pray
Sorry I don’ do it every day
But dear father
I hope that’s not the reason am facing tough seasons.

These days I get calls
Curses and abuses do follow
Debts I owe will lead to my fall
I have nowhere to hide
Neither can I make a long enough stride
I look up to you
Where are you?
I can’t see you though I know you are there.

You took mummy away
Took daddy astray
Now baby brother is hungry
He looks at me with deranged eyes
Buried deep in their sockets
Big sister is on the streets
Dressing in tatters she deems fashion
I look at my brother,
Bitter tears in my eyes.
I whisper to you of my plight
I know you are not in my sight
But you are there, right?

Father,
Take care of mummy
Bring daddy home
Feed my baby brother
Dress my big sister
For me…
Just heal my family
Is this too much to ask?
