A Lesser Favor Today I Ask

A lesser favor today I ask
Follow me closely not lest you bump into me when I trip
Follow me not so far away lest we lose sight of our other self

A lesser favor today I ask
Tomorrow may not be ours and so could the next minute be
But for the moment we own, let your all be rooted to me

A lesser favor today I ask
Through seasons mountains age and get snowy
With the chill of winter I may not stand to see the fall, but spring up and be the summer to thaw my heart

A lesser favor today I ask
Let this be the only time I plead guilty for a finger laid against your heart
Scribbling my mind on its lower left, pump it to every part of you

A lesser favor today I ask
From one so great in the days that lie ahead
Honor my request as you would in the future, greatness in a lesser way.
